Traditional Orangery Extension for a Family Home in Bedford

Our design solution was a traditional-style orangery extension. This approach allowed us to add significant square footage while remaining sympathetic to the character of the original home. The goal was to create a seamless transition between the old and new, resulting in a space that felt both expansive and established.

This project included a new kitchen design, integrating it into the open-plan family area to create a multi-functional heart of the home, perfect for both daily life and entertaining.

To achieve the dramatic, light-filled atmosphere the clients desired, we incorporated several key features. High ceilings immediately give the room a sense of volume and grandeur. A large, central roof lantern floods the new kitchen and living area with natural light, while full-height Crittal-style doors create a stunning visual connection to the garden and newly paved patio.

We managed the entire process from concept to completion. This included developing the initial designs, producing detailed drawings for the planning application, and creating the technical plans required for Building Regulations approval.
