Stevenage is a mix of two very different places. The Old Town High Street is a historic conservation area with timber-framed buildings, Georgian inns and Victorian terraces, while the post-war New Town neighbourhoods of Bedwell, Broadwater, Shephall, Pin Green and Chells were carefully planned in the 1950s and 60s with their own architectural character.
